As seen in the picture, the original bridge had broken through the top and the old repairs were not holding. As a matter of fact, the top shows signs of serious fatigue from years of pressure in this area of the top.

To help buy this instrument a few more years, I created a special bridge which spread out the stress over more of the top of the instrument and it worked quite nicely.
