Here we have a typical old Fender bass that owner Jim Lorino (pictured) had decided to bring back to its original glory. As you can see it has been messed with a few too many times. It was originally candy apple red so my restoration started by removing layers and layers of brushed on polyurethane. I recreated the original tuner holes, repaired the cracked headstock, and installed '64 tuners and the decal. I removed brushed on polyurethane from the neck, then re-lacquered the neck and body with nitrocellulose lacquer. Next I installed new frets and cleaned up the original electronics. After it was done being tweaked and set-up, Jim had himself the '64 P-bass he had always wanted.
